Numerical Parametric Study and Design of Pultruded GFRP Composite Channel Columns

This article reports the finite element (FE) investigation of axial capacities pultruded fiber-reinforced polymer (PFRP) composite channel columns. The nonlinear model (FEM) was developed by using ABAQUS package for glass (GFRP) columns, which included geometric and initial imperfections. FEMs were verified against an experimental result available in literature GFRP validated used to carry out parametric study comprising 61 FE models investigate effect different geometries, plate slenderness length members on results obtained from examine accuracy current Italian guidelines, American pre-standard Direct Strength Method (DSM) proposed profiles.
